Math Facts Practice
Math Facts fluency is vital to all math success. Fluency is the automatic recall of answers to addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division facts. There are many ways to practice to build the fact fluency, but the key is repeated practice. The class practiced math facts twice a week this year and took a Fact Challenge every week. The Fact Challenge is 100 facts in 5 minutes. I consider 95 facts correct or better to be mastery. Each child worked on his/her own specific facts at his/her own pace. The following shows how I move students through the facts each year:
First Graders: Work on individual addition fact families. (+1 then +2 then +3 and so on.)
Second and Third Graders: Work on all addition facts. Then once addition is mastered, move to subtraction, then to multiplication, then to division.
Below, I have files you can download and print out to practice this summer.
